Laboratory based Analytical Scientist (Year in Industry Placement)

Location:

Discovery Park, Sandwich, UK

Here’s how this role will help:

  • In order to deliver a growing portfolio of respiratory products in development towards commercialisation, the Analytical Control & Development team within Mylan Global Respiratory Group requires laboratory based analytical scientists to carry out analytical testing in support of product development, clinical studies and product registration.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Carry out analytical activities required to deliver new respiratory products to clinical studies and commercialisation.

  • Execute experiments to generate scientific understanding in development of analytical methods, formulations and processes.

  • Perform analyses related to clinical supplies, stability, and process scale up.

  • Process data; highlight aberrant or suspect results and work with supervisor to investigate.

  • Maintain laboratory documentation in accordance with cGMP documentation practices.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation.

  • Contribute to project delivery by carrying out other tasks (e.g. laboratory housekeeping, ordering, shipping samples) as required.

Essential skills, qualifications and experience:

  • Must be familiar with the basic principles of analytical chemistry

  • Must possess good IT skills (Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

  • Must be able to work collaboratively within a team environment

  • Must be able to organize tasks allocated by supervisor and plan own work to consistently achieve output of high quality results in a timely manner, following established analytical methods and operating procedures.

  • Must have enthusiasm to work in a lab based role

  • Must have good written and oral communication

  • Must have A level or equivalent qualifications in science subjects

  • Must be registered on an BSc or MSc degree program and have completed a minimum of 2 years

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Practical laboratory experience

  • Has knowledge and/or experience of modern instrumental methods of analysis, e.g. HPLC, particle sizing.

  • Experience in development and testing of Inhalation Products.

  • Experience of physical properties testing, e.g. particle size, surface area, amorphous content.

  • Good understanding of laboratory safety and best practice.

  • Knowledge of cGMP/GLP.
