New tenants bring sweet treats to StartUp Zone

Posted on 25/05/16

Those with a sweet tooth are in for a treat as the latest growing story is welcomed to the StartUp Zone at Discovery Park.

Yums & Tums opened its doors to the public on May 11 after entrepreneur Dominic Coombes, who worked as a cleaner on site for the past two years, saw a gap in the market and thought he could bring something fresh and new to the park.

Dominic put away the mop and seized the opportunity to sell goodies to the 2,400 people working on site, creating bespoke gifts for a variety of occasions, including party bags for children, sweet bags for weddings, corporate gifts and hampers.

Discovery Park’s very own tuck shop caters for all needs, no matter what the dietary requirement, be it diabetic, vegan or vegetarian. Treats on offer include crisps, chocolate and pick ‘n’ mix.

The business, run by brother and sister duo, Dominic Coombes and Natalie Overton, Yums & Tums even offers delivery to homes and event locations for a standard price.

Founder and sweet enthusiast, Dominic, said: “We wanted to bring something to the park which was different to anything it had here already, and we wanted to offer our products at a competitive price.

“I worked as a cleaner here for about two years and always thought it could do with somewhere to pick up a quick snack or treat – it’s been a lot of hard work to get the idea going but we are positive there is an appetite for it here.

“We promise to always try our hardest to get our customers what they want, and, if we can’t we’ll be honest and truthful and let them know.”

Lauren Moore, Leasing Co-ordinator at Discovery Park, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Yums & Tums to our StartUp Zone, a space which is now filling up with a varied range of entrepreneurial businesses. It’s great to have all of these treats so easily accessible but it will certainly test our willpower!”

Yums & Tums is open Monday – Friday between 9am – 5pm and can be found in the StartUp Zone.
