Venomtech in running for 2016 Biotechnology Award

A science company which extracts deadly venom from spiders and snakes to sell to drugs researchers is in the running for top honours in the 2016 Biotechnology Awards.

Venomtech, has seen its business go from strength to strength since joining Discovery Park in Sandwich two years ago. Founded in 2010 its products have been used in drug discovery and development, including pain relief treatments.

The awards, organised by ghp health and pharma, recognise researchers, clinicians, managers, chemists paving the way for others to follow. The winners are due to be announced in March.

Venomtech has already received significant backing for its entry in the drug discovery and development category – with clients and industry peers casting online votes in support.

Lauren Moore, leasing co-ordinator for Discovery Park, said: “Venomtech are leading the way in the field of biotechnology and we wish them every success in these awards.”
