Newcastle team comes on fact finding visit to Discovery Park

Posted on 20/01/17

A combined team from Newcastle Council, Newcastle University and the North East Local Enterprise Partnership visited Discovery Park earlier this month.

The purpose of the visit on Monday, 9 January was to gain a better understanding of how NCL (Narec Capital) and KCC (Kent County Council) had established the Discovery Park Technology Investment Fund and the benefits that the fund had bought to the site.

The team also met with some of NCL’s portfolio companies including Centauri Therapeutics, Coomtech, Flute Office, Algaecytes and Venomtech.

Jerry Biggs, CEO of NCL, said: “The Discovery Park Technology Investment Fund has successfully attracted a number of high technology companies to Discovery Park.

“Whilst our ambition is to continue to grow our fund management operations within Kent, we are also looking to establish a network of similar funds within other regions, that have synergy with our portfolio at Discovery Park.

“We are hopeful that we can assist Newcastle with establishing a similar operation to the one that we have at Discovery Park and develop a strong relationship between both regions.”
