Lee’s marathon helps grow Discovery Park’s fundraising for Porchlight

Throughout the year tenants and members of the Discovery Park team have been pulling out all the stops to fundraise more than £10,000 for Kent-based homeless charity, Porchlight.
We’ve set ourselves a number of fundraising challenges: our Finance Director, Kevin, has conquered Kilimanjaro, we slept under the stars, giving those braving the chill an insight into life on the streets, and most the most recent effort comes in the shape of Pillory Barn’s PR and Content Manager, Lee Winter.
Last Saturday, October 29th, Lee completed the Snowdonia Marathon in his native Wales, one of the most difficult marathons on the running circuit.
The Welsh wordsmith finished the 26.2 mile track in an impressive 5.5 hours - and still had a little bit left in the tank for a sprint finish.
He said: “I was really chuffed to finish in just over five-and-a-half hours, as there were some seriously steep hills.
“The scenery was absolutely beautiful, however, if you were to ask me if I’d do it again, my answer would be ‘not at the moment’! I’m walking okay, providing I don’t sit down for too long.
“Porchlight does some fantastic work for homeless people in the county, I was initially running it for a personal challenge, but it seemed like a great opportunity to contribute to Discovery Park’s already impressive total of more than £10,000 for the charity.”
This is Lee’s third marathon to date, having previously conquered the Brighton and London circuits.
