Discovery Park welcomes public to Electric Vehicle Demonstration Day

Posted on 19/07/16

The latest in electric car technology will be on display at an eco-driven event being held at Discovery Park next month – with tenants and members of the public able to get behind the wheel of many of the latest models.

The Electric Vehicle Demonstration Day takes place from 11am to 3pm on Wednesday, 10 August in the Gateway Courtyard with TESLA, BMW, Nissan and Renault among the leading manufacturers taking part.

As well as the offer of test drives and a BBQ – including a free burger for all attending – there will be information on government grants, demonstrations of a number of vehicles new to market and charging advice.

Paul Fullbrook, Energy Manager with Parkserve at Discovery Park, the facilities management company which supports the running of the site, said the event was all part of a strategy aimed at encouraging increased sustainability – both for people working on site, but the wider public too.

He said: “We’re very excited to host another event dedicated to energy efficiency at Discovery Park and hope that lots of people will come along and find out why their next car should be electric powered.

“This site already does all it can to think green from recycling and energy savings to the rapid electric car charging point outside the Discovery Park House building on the Ramsgate Road, Sandwich.

“It’s an environmentally friendly ethos that has already ensured the site has been able to take steps to reduce its carbon footprint by 1,500 tonnes since October last year.

“We hope to announce more improvements on site – including new charging points and adding electric vehicles to our own work fleet – in the weeks ahead as part of our ongoing drive to be more considerate to the environment.”

This is just one of many great stories from a site continuing to set the pace for #science + #enterprise in…
