Altermune host seminar by Professor Victor Nizet

Altermune Ltd are hosting a special seminar on Friday, 4 December about how immunotherapy can be used to fight multi-drug resistant superbugs.

Professor Victor Nizet, Professor and Vice Chair for Research in Pediatrics and Division Chief of HostMicrobe Systems and Therapuetics at the University of California, San Diego is flying in to speak at the session. The seminar - taking place at 11am in the Fleming Suite at Discovery Park - is called Collaborating with the Innate Immune System to Treat Multidrug-Resistant Superbugs.

The Nizet Laboratory studies fundamental mechanisms of bacterial pathogenesis and the innate immune system, with an eye toward developing novelvirulence factor or immune-based therapies to combat invasive infections and drug resistant microbes.

Dr. Nizet has contributed to over 325 publications to the peer-reviewed literature and is an elected member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation, Association of American Physicians, and American Academy of Microbiology. Dr. Nizet sits on the Advisory Board of several biotechnology companies including Loxbridge Research LLP and Altermune
