Networking is the way forward for Kent businesses

Posted on 10/09/15

A Kent business coach has brought networking to Discovery Park with the start of regular interactive meetings for tenants and local professionals.

Karen Chambers, member of 4Networking, held a session in the Raleigh Suite of the Discovery Events Centre with 28 people attending from Discovery Park and the wider area.

The company holds networking meetings up and down the country giving thousands of people the opportunity to connect and trade with other businesses in their area. A typical meeting involves swapping business cards, ten-minute one-to-one appointments and ‘4Sight’ presentations. The fortnightly Discovery Park meeting also includes breakfast.

Karen moved to Kent last December with her husband, a scientist based at Discovery Park, and was shocked to discover that there were no meetings in the area.

She said: “As I didn’t know many people in the area I thought it would be a perfect way to spread the word about my business, but there weren’t any 4Networking meetings down here. I’ve had great success and gained a lot of business through these meetings in North Yorkshire and the East Midlands, so I decided to start them in Kent myself.”

This is Karen’s second Kent group after starting another in Canterbury recently, which some Discovery Park tenants also attend.

The benefits of connecting with local businesspeople can be priceless; Karen secured a large NHS contract for her own company through networking and her first GrowthAccelerator assignment through a 4Networking meeting. She has also been able to advise others using her own knowledge of the sector.

Discovery Park tenants are welcome to book to come along to the next meeting on Thursday 24th September which costs £12 to cover breakfast. You can attend three meetings before you have to sign up for a 4Networking membership.
