The above picture was taken at the official launch of Discovery Park’s new bank, writes the site’s leasing executive Lauren Moore.
It was a great day, and not only to show off the world-class facilities we have on offer here to senior executives from NatWest’s commercial and business banking divisions.
The round table event – organised by NatWest in partnership with South East Business magazine – also proved a great opportunity for tenants to share their stories about life at Discovery Park and challenges they’ve faced in business.
Existing tenants C4C charities and Morgan Jones spoke about the steps they took in starting up their own businesses, the obstacles they have faced and how they have overcome these to achieve success.
The use of apprenticeships being a success to improve our skills sector in Kent and help grow businesses with young ambition and correct training provided by companies and educational sector was also a good talking point.
The proposed parkway station, located just a few minutes from Discovery Park, was seen as a real opportunity, with the promise of being able to reach London in 54 mins, attracting talent to DP and companies able to meet in the capital or have satellite offices to facilitate travel.
The round table event also allowed tenants to hear about what NatWest is offering in the area – including their support for start-up businesses and for examples of projects from further afield.
This included Natwest’s training programme in Brighton, for staff to experience and become more entrepreneurial to be able to apply these skills when advising business owners on next steps.
Having NatWest join us at Discovery Park is great news for the site, and a key element of our desire to introduce a wide range of services to support the 140+ businesses now based here – from funding advice to start-up support – all helping to further increase the site’s vibrancy and ongoing success.
