As you may well be aware, since October 2012, there has been a legal requirement for UK employers to enrol their employees in a pension scheme. Between April 2015 and January 2017, approximately 598,000 businesses will be affected. This represents the largest group of companies to auto-enrol to date.
Sarah Carroll, Head of HR, says “naturally smaller businesses tend to have less awareness of auto-enrolment issues than larger companies, many don’t have dedicated departments such as HR and some have not previously offered any kind of pension scheme. Planning is key as employers need to be ready to meet their obligations, which include a number of administrative and disclosure requirements.
